Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were notified by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for information.

A senior political figure stated the attack made him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
