World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a aggregate over 50 million viewers across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33M viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership reached over 16 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
